Marcelo Lu is the Senior Vice President of the Care Chemicals business at BASF Corporation in North America, a role he assumed in 2021. In this role, he has been overseeing eight manufacturing sites, four laboratories, and a team of over 650 people.
Marcelo plays a fundamental role in leading the strategic and operational performance of the Care Chemicals business that serves customers in the Home Care, Personal Care and Industrial Formulators markets. He is committed to strengthening collaboration with teams globally to meet the needs of the North American market, as well as with customers through championing operational excellence, digitalization, innovation and sustainability.
Marcelo has been with BASF since 2006 and has held various commercial and general management positions in Germany, Hong Kong, Canada and the U.S. including leading regional business management positions in Asia in the textile, packaging and automotive markets.
Marcelo holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.) and executive education from INSEAD. Outside work, Marcelo enjoys archery, swimming, spinning and traveling. In his free time, he enjoys the company of his daughter and son, always trying to be a fun dad.
