Markus Diehl holds a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany and has over 20 years’ experience within the crop protection industry. Markus began his career in Regulatory Science in a Swiss CRO before joining BASF in Germany. At BASF, Markus has held leadership roles in both regulatory affairs and technical marketing. Beginning in 2015, he became globally responsible for “Product and Process Compliance”. In order to ensure compliance, optimize efficiency and increase transparency in the regulatory area, globally accessible innovative IT tools are developed and implemented.

As Senior Manager of Global Regulatory & Environmental Affairs at Abercrombie & Fitch, Ian helps to ensure safe and compliant personal care and other formulated products are available for sale in over 20 countries under their namesake brands: Abercrombie & Fitch, abercrombie kids, Hollister Co., Social Tourist, and Gilly Hicks. Throughout his 18-year tenure at A&F, Ian has worked in multiple capacities from Supply Chain Finance to Human Rights Compliance and Sustainability. Ian graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Finance and International Business. A Connecticut native, he now resides in Columbus, Ohio where he enjoys spending time with his wife, three kids, and pit bull, Marley.

After studying Applied System Science in the University of Osnabrück and conducting a doctoral thesis in the field of GIS-based environmental exposure modelling (Title: Modelling and Evaluating the aquatic fate of detergents), Carsten started to work in Bayer R&D IT in 2001 as an R&D IT project manager for LIMS and ELN implementation projects for Bayer Pharma and Crop Science. Then, Carsten acted as program lead in integrating the Bayer Pharma and Schering R&D IT system landscape. In 2009,
Carsten switched to R&D IT for Crop Science as team lead and global process manager for all Software Development activities. In this phase, Carsten also led in-house projects for modernizing global Regulatory Affairs systems for managing all registrations and dossiers. Beginning 2014, Carsten switched to the Crop Science internal R&D IT organization as global IT strategy lead for R&D functions such as R&D Portfolio Management, Regulatory Affairs and Regulatory Science. In the last two years, Carsten co-developed the digital transformation strategy of the CS Regulatory Science organization, whose implementation started at the beginning of the year. Current role of Carsten is global digital strategy lead for Bayer Crop Protection's R&D Lab, Greenhouse & Discovery teams and sites.

Massimo Loss, Manager IT Product & Corporate Quality in Philip Morris International (PMI). Massimo has been working in PMI since 1995 covering different growing roles within the Information Technology function while implementing and evolving technology solutions in different areas of the business, including being head of the Swiss and Italian IT organizations. As of 2016 Massimo leads global projects in the R&D domain where he manages the digitalization of the Corporate Quality Management System. Moving to an IT Business Engagement role, Massimo became key IT partner for the R&D functions till he took over the current role, overseeing the partnership between the IT and Product & Corporate Quality functions while being in charge of the strategic evolution of the related solutions’ portfolio.
