Global Director, Front-End-Innovation
Rahul Shinde is the Global Director of Front-End-Innovation for Givaudan. He is responsible for identifying and nurturing disruptive technologies, including digital technologies that are shaping the future of food. This includes Plant Based Meats, Dairy & Nutrition to Natural Flavors, Preservatives & Colorants along with Digital Technology for rapid iteration and efficient product development. He has completed his Bachelor’s in Chemical Technology, Master’s in Foods Science and MBA. He has over 15 years of experience developing and commercializing new products through the entire food value chain from farm-to-fork. He led product and process development, scale-up manufacturing and setting of quality standards for variety of cranberry products as the R&D Manager at Decas Botanical Synergies, now part of Givaudan. He also helped develop and scale up new consumer products for household brands like Hidden Valley Ranch, Brita, Burt’s Bees and Clorox Cleaning Solutions as the Open Innovation
Leader and Group Manager at The Clorox Company. He is going to share his perspective on the pace of Innovation in Foods and how it is affecting quality and safety standards and requirements.
Director Food & Beverage Strategy
Geert joined Veeva Systems in 2021 as Director QualityOne Strategy, focusing on the Food & Beverage industry. After receiving his PhD in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology, he joined Unilever R&D in 1998. He has 23 years of experience in Foods, R&D, innovation, Quality and Quality systems.
Geert has spent most of his career working for Unilever’s Spreads Division, developing expertise in oils & fats as well as product & processing technologies. He published his work in peer-reviewed publications and holds several patents.
Geert has led several regional and global product innovation projects, and worked 3.5 yrs in Johannesburg, South Africa, leading the Spreads R&D group for Africa & Asia. In 2015, Geert joined Unilever’s global Quality group, initially responsible for Spreads & Dressings. Led the development of several GMPs, and supported Engineering in various factory design projects. From 2017, responsible for various Quality systems, including supplier and manufacturing systems, and led Unilever’s global digital Quality transformation project, introducing Veeva QualityOne.

Massimo Loss, Manager IT Product & Corporate Quality in Philip Morris International (PMI). Massimo has been working in PMI since 1995 covering different growing roles within the Information Technology function while implementing and evolving technology solutions in different areas of the business, including being head of the Swiss and Italian IT organizations. As of 2016 Massimo leads global projects in the R&D domain where he manages the digitalization of the Corporate Quality Management System. Moving to an IT Business Engagement role, Massimo became key IT partner for the R&D functions till he took over the current role, overseeing the partnership between the IT and Product & Corporate Quality functions while being in charge of the strategic evolution of the related solutions’ portfolio.
