Frank Defesche

Senior Vice President and General Manager

As senior vice president and general manager at Veeva, Frank is responsible for the strategic direction, growth, and customer success of Veeva's regulatory, quality, and claims solutions for industries such as consumer goods, cosmetics, and chemicals.

Since 1999, Frank has provided strategic guidance and services to customers for cloud-based enterprise applications and platforms. An early cloud pioneer, he has managed hundreds of cloud implementations and brings a wealth of knowledge on how to evaluate, deliver, and support cloud technology.

Frank joined Veeva in 2008 to build its professional services function. Prior, he spent eight years at salesforce.com where he began as one of the company's first consultants and went on to hold various product management and sales positions. Before joining salesforce.com, Frank worked at Dell and Trilogy Software.

Frank graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics.

As the vice president of products, Derek is responsible for application product strategy and development for Veeva's regulatory, quality, and claims solutions for industries such as consumer goods, cosmetics, and chemicals.

Derek brings to the team over 15 years of experience building high performance teams and enterprise software working across CRM, financial services and global hospitality industries.

Derek holds a bachelor of science honors degree in computer science from McMaster University.

Ed brings significant experience helping businesses gain traction and drive growth within new markets by focusing on customer success.

Prior to joining Veeva, Ed led sales, marketing and business development functions at ClearCare, a vertical SaaS company servicing the home care market. At ClearCare, Ed managed the end-to-end business development processes from demand generation to contract close.

Ed has also held sales leadership roles at several technology companies, including Legato Systems, Tivoli Systems, BEA, Adobe, and Salesforce.

As vice president of sales for North America, Greg is responsible for managing global sales efforts and building strategic relationships with leading companies across multiple verticals.

Greg is an experienced executive who has spent over 15 years in enterprise software sales, most of which focused on mobile multi-tenant cloud based technologies. Before assuming his current role, Greg spent four years managing some of Veeva’s most strategic global client relationships.

Prior to Veeva, Greg spent over a decade managing strategic accounts at Salesforce and Skura Corporation. Greg has a unique ability to build successful long-term client relationships.

Imad Gmira

General Manager, Europe

As General Manager in Europe, Imad is responsible for Strategy, Sales and Services in the region around Veeva's regulatory, quality, and claims solutions for industries such as consumer goods, cosmetics, and chemicals.

Imad brings to the team more than 20 years of consultancy experience at firms such as Arthur Andersen and BearingPoint, where he advised organizations across diverse industries on strategy through to delivery. He oversaw and managed multiple international and European transformation programs with a focus on driving value for customers.

Prior to joining Veeva, Imad served as vice president for professional services EMEA for Kyriba, a leader in cloud-based treasury and risk management solutions. In this role, he successfully oversaw and managed hundreds of cloud implementations across Europe and internationally.

Imad holds a Bachelor and Master Degrees from IMM and ESCP business schools.

As Vice President of strategy for the consumer goods industry, Bruce is responsible for leading the go-to-market strategy across quality, regulatory, and claims solutions, as well as providing market insights on new and evolving capabilities, and ultimately ensuring customer success.

Bruce has a passion for sharing new ideas and turning them into tangible value. Prior to joining Veeva, Bruce developed and managed partnerships between SC Johnson's IT and global new product development, marketing, and sales leadership teams for the purpose of strategy and roadmap development, process and technology implementation, and service management. 

Prior to S.C. Johnson, Bruce served as a member of Accenture's consumer goods and services North America leadership team where he was accountable for developing and delivering global client initiatives, leading domain offerings and partnerships, and was a frequent speaker at Accenture's consumer innovation center.

Director, Professional Services

As the Director of the North America Professional Services team, Katy is responsible for customer success with pre-sales, implementation, and post-implementation services.  Her team guides customers on implementation projects to ensure long-term success with the CP&C Vault applications.  Prior to her current role, Katy led Services Engagement for the CP&C North America team and worked with prospective customers to scope implementation projects.

Before joining Veeva, Katy worked for two Series B technology startups in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.  Her roles at those startups varied from sales and account management to implementation and operations.  Katy's experience in project management started at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, where she worked on logistics, real estate development, and acquisition projects.

Andrew Douglass

Chemical Strategy Lead

Andrew is responsible for Veeva’s strategy for the chemical industry. This includes market segmentation, identifying and assessing new product opportunities, product positioning and messaging and supporting customer development.

Andrew has more than 20 years’ experience in R&D and marketing within the chemical, biotechnology and consumer goods industries. He has held senior roles at Syngenta, Solvay, Zymergen, and The Clorox Company/ Burt’s Bees. He is an expert in product and business development, innovation and partnerships.

Andrew has a B.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Southampton, England.

David Egée

Director of Strategy Cosmetics, Europe

David brings more than 20 years experience to this role and will be responsible for further integrating the cosmetics industry’s unique requirements and trends into Veeva’s software solutions.

David spent the past 12 years at Parfums Christian Dior, most recently as the director of quality. Prior to this role, he led the microbiology, chemistry, sensory and industrialization laboratories, and was production manager for the perfume and packaging department, where he led a team of 120 people committed to industrial performance and product quality.

Director, Strategy, Food & Beverage

Geert joined Veeva Systems in 2021 as Director QualityOne Strategy, focusing on the Food & Beverage industry. After receiving his PhD in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology, he joined Unilever R&D in 1998. He has 23 years of experience in Foods, R&D, innovation, Quality and Quality systems.

 

Geert has spent most of his career working for Unilever’s Spreads Division, developing expertise in oils & fats as well as product & processing technologies. He published his work in peer-reviewed publications and holds several patents.

 

Geert has led several regional and global product innovation projects, and worked 3.5 yrs in Johannesburg, South Africa, leading the Spreads R&D group for Africa & Asia. In 2015, Geert joined Unilever’s global Quality group, initially responsible for Spreads & Dressings. Led the development of several GMPs, and supported Engineering in various factory design projects. From 2017, responsible for various Quality systems, including supplier and manufacturing systems, and led Unilever’s global digital Quality transformation project, introducing Veeva QualityOne.

As director of strategy for QualityOne, Sophia is the team’s resident quality subject matter expert and is responsible for developing thought leadership content, industry influence strategies, and sales and marketing collateral to drive brand awareness and product adoption. Sophia brings to the team over 10 years of direct quality experience in regulated industries.

She began her career with the FDA working in CBER’s vaccine lot release program and later moved to the FDA’s office of regulatory affairs as a regulatory microbiologist. Additionally, Sophia has managed CAPA, complaints, audit, and deviation programs in the medical device industry.

Sophia has a master of science in bioscience in regulatory affairs from Johns Hopkins University and is an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor.

As director of strategy at Veeva, John is responsible for overall strategic direction for the Veeva Claims application. This includes product roadmap prioritization, industry thought leadership, and strategies and tactics to drive awareness and interest within targeted verticals. John acts as the subject matter expert around advertising and product claims management and works closely with the sales and services teams on new and existing customer accounts.

John has over 20 years of experience in senior marketing and strategy roles across a variety of industries, including consumer products, healthcare, and technology. As associate director of marketing at The Clorox Company, John worked extensively in regulated categories, and led teams responsible for brand strategy and marketing, innovation, and channel marketing.

John holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA from Harvard University.

Jacques Mourrain, PhD

Senior Director, Quality and Compliance

Jacques Mourrain is senior director of quality and compliance at Veeva – bringing 20 years of experience in regulated industries and deep knowledge of software development best practices, validation principles, and quality systems. He began his career developing control system applications for pharmaceutical freeze-drying, followed by a tenure as director of validation at Fluor Daniel. In this role, he was responsible for multiple quality projects – including the qualification of clean utilities, process equipment, process automation, and enterprise information systems.

In 2000, he joined Genentech, where he led multiple initiatives in software quality assurance. In 2002, he founded the company’s GxP computer system compliance function – a group responsible for IT compliance across the regulated landscape (GxPs) – and drove key compliance projects, such as 21CFR Part 11 remediation and Oliver Wight Class A process optimization.

An established thought leader in the area of computer systems compliance, validation, and auditing, Jacques has presented at industry conferences including DIA, ISPE, and PDA. He has published on a range of topics spanning compliance auditing, change control, cost-of-quality, and computer systems validation.
